• The starting point for Switzerland’s longest via ferrata is on the trail up to the Gemmi… or rather, a short way downhill from the mountain station. Because of its length, it’s especially important to start this via ferrata very early. • The “Gemmi Run” challenge starts practically right outside the front door. Anyone who manages to reach the mountain station within the time limit receives a free ride down the Gemmi Cable Car and free admission to the Leukerbad Therme as a reward

• The chalet is perfectly located even for the “Gemmi Route.”
The Gemmi Route connects the Valais with the Bernese Oberland and is considered one of the most beautiful day hikes in the Swiss Alps.

Start right outside your front door → Hike up the historic Gemmi Trail to the Gemmi Pass → Continue past Lake Dauben → Descend to Kandersteg.

The hike from the valley station to the Gemmi Pass takes about 2 hours (4.6 km, approximately 970 meters of elevation gain); the entire hike to Kandersteg takes about 4.5 to 6 hours, depending on your pace.
Then take the train or bus back right to your doorstep. For fit early risers, this can be done in a single day.
